About Bakersfield Tree Service Pros
Bakersfield Tree Service Pros takes down, prunes and cleans up trees for homeowners across Bakersfield, from the older streets near downtown and East Bakersfield to the newer tracts out in the southwest and northwest, and in the nearby valley communities of Kern County.
The valley is hard on trees in its own particular way. Rain averages a little over six inches a year, most summers bring more than a month of days at or above 100 degrees, and the soil under most yards is alkaline. Trees here live or die by irrigation, and a lot of what we are called out for traces back to that: pines thinning from the top after a dry stretch, sweetgums in slow decline, ash and maple limbs loaded with mistletoe, and palms that have gone years without a trim and now carry a heavy skirt of dead fronds.
So every job starts with someone looking at the tree in person. We note the species, the lean, dead wood, cracks, old pruning wounds, mistletoe, and any sign of decay at the base. Then we look at everything the tree could hit or that stands in the way: the roof, a block wall, the pool, the neighbor's side yard, a side gate too narrow for equipment, and the PG&E lines that run along the back of many Bakersfield lots.
We also look at where the tree stands. The City of Bakersfield's street tree code gives the Recreation and Parks director control over planting and removing trees in streets, parkways and public places, and it requires any contractor working on trees in those public areas to get a city permit first. If your tree looks like it is in the parkway between the sidewalk and the curb, we tell you before quoting so the right permission is in place. If branches are touching or close to power lines, that part belongs to PG&E.
After the visit, you get a written quote. It lists each tree, the work planned for it, what happens to the limbs, logs and chips, whether a stump is being ground, and the price. Nothing gets cut until you agree to it, and if something changes once work starts, we talk to you and put the change in writing before going further.
What you can expect
- A clear method for each tree: climbing, rigging, or a lift where the yard allows it.
- Limbs lowered on ropes over roofs, pools and walls instead of dropped.
- Palm fronds and palm trunks handled separately, since local green waste sites often refuse palm material.
- Brush chipped and hauled, or chips left for mulch if you want them.
- Firewood left in rounds or removed, your choice.
- Payment only for work you approved.
